Truck Toll Bulgaria: The Vinjetka
Bulgaria mainly uses the Vinjetka for trucks – a time-based vignette that must be purchased before the journey. The system is operated by BG Toll; charging is in Bulgarian lev (BGN), pegged to the euro (1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN).
Who needs the Vinjetka?
All vehicles on the Bulgarian national road network. The rates differ by:
- Vehicle weight and axle count – more axles = higher vignette
- Emission class (Euro standard) – cleaner vehicles pay less
- Duration – weekly, monthly and annual vignettes
Vignette instead of distance toll
Unlike Germany or Austria, Bulgaria has no continuous distance toll. With a valid vignette, the entire national road network can be used as often as desired during the chosen period. For cost planning, the toll is therefore a fixed, known amount in advance.
Special case: distance-based tolls
On certain new motorway sections (concession routes), distance-based fees are additionally charged. These mainly affect international transit corridors.
