Truck Toll Slovakia: The EMYTO System
Slovakia operates a fully electronic toll system for trucks with EMYTO. Tolls are distance-based on motorways and expressways – no toll plazas, GNSS detection.
The toll system: EMYTO
EMYTO (electronic toll system) automatically detects vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. It is operated by the Slovak state; charging is in euros. The system was updated with new rates on 1 July 2025.
Which vehicles are tolled?
Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes. The rate matrix distinguishes:
- Light vehicles (under 12 t)
- 2 axles (from 12 t)
- 3 axles
- 4 axles
- 5+ axles
Rate structure: emission class and CO₂ class
The rate (€/km) depends on the axle category and a combination of Euro emission class and CO₂ class:

A modern 40-tonne articulated lorry (5 axles, Euro 6) pays around €0.27/km – Slovakia is in the European mid-range.
Discounts and Concessions
Note: User-dependent discounts are the exception in Europe – rates are typically determined solely by vehicle data (weight, axles, Euro/CO₂ class). Where operators do offer discounts, these apply per concession and are subject to specific conditions. As of October 2026; the terms and conditions of the respective operator are authoritative.
